Your Rights Under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. These consumer guarantees apply automatically and in addition to any voluntary policy or warranty we offer.
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for any purpose we or the manufacturer stated or that you made known to us before purchase, and match their description, sample or demonstration model. Signs or terms stating 'no refunds' or 'no returns on sale items' are unlawful and do not remove these rights.
Major vs Minor Failures
A failure is major when the goods would not have been purchased by a reasonable consumer aware of the fault, differ significantly from their description, are substantially unfit for their normal purpose (and cannot easily be made fit within a reasonable time), or are unsafe. For a major failure, the choice of a refund or an identical replacement is yours.
For a minor failure that can be put right, we may choose to repair the goods within a reasonable time rather than provide a refund or replacement. If we cannot repair the goods within a reasonable time, you may then reject them and choose a refund or replacement.
Where a remedy applies, you are also entitled to be compensated for any reasonably foreseeable consequential loss caused by the failure.
Faulty or Damaged Goods
If your item is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described, contact us as soon as possible at sales@equipdepotau.com with your order number, a description of the problem and photographs where relevant.
We will assess the claim and arrange the appropriate remedy under the consumer guarantees. Where a return is required to assess or remedy the fault, we will cover the reasonable cost of returning the goods.
Approved refunds for faulty goods are processed to your original payment method within 10 of the remedy being agreed.
Change-of-Mind Returns
There is no cooling-off period for most retail purchases under Australian law, and we are not legally required to accept change-of-mind returns. As a courtesy, we voluntarily accept them within 30 of delivery, subject to the conditions below, and we honour this offer once it is made.
To be eligible, goods must be unused, in as-new resalable condition, and returned in their original undamaged packaging with all accessories, manuals and included parts. Proof of purchase is required.
Change-of-mind returns are at your cost: you are responsible for return shipping and for the goods until they reach us safely. A restocking fee may apply to oversized, heavy or freight items (see below).
Restocking Fees and Non-Returnable Items
For change-of-mind returns of oversized or heavy freight goods (such as containers, trailers, saunas and large machinery), a restocking fee of up to a reasonable percentage of the item price may be deducted to cover freight, handling and reconditioning. This does not apply to faulty goods.
Custom-made, made-to-order, cut-to-size and special-order items are final sale and cannot be returned for change of mind, because they cannot be resold. This does not affect your consumer guarantee rights if such items are faulty.
Gift cards, hygiene-sensitive items once opened, and clearance items sold 'as inspected' with a disclosed fault are not eligible for change-of-mind return, but remain covered by the consumer guarantees where those guarantees apply.
How to Start a Return
Contact sales@equipdepotau.com or +61 480 844 836 to request a return authorisation before sending anything back. We will confirm the return address and, for freight items, help arrange suitable transport.
Package goods securely to prevent transit damage. Returns received damaged due to inadequate packaging may have the refund reduced accordingly.
Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you of the outcome and process any approved refund within 10.
